Our Mission
Peacock's Tail is a local business based in Brooklyn, Wellington (New Zealand) dedicated to making deliciously healthy, low-sugar, probiotic beverages.
Our aim is to provide a satisfying and stimulating alternative to alcohol and sugary soft-drinks, while minimising waste and promoting resource-efficiency by re-using our glass bottles.
Our first offering is a zesty Kawakawa Ginger Beer, batch-brewed the old fashioned way with lashings of fresh Fijian root ginger for spicy warmth, lemon juice for zing and native NZ Kawakawa leaves for a herbal, slightly peppery note (and its well-known medicinal properties). Rounded out with just enough sweetness to balance the spice, bottle-conditioned for natural effervescence, and unpasteurised so it’s still teeming with probiotic microbes, the resulting brew ticks all the boxes and really hits the spot!
NOTE: We're currently only delivering to our local region, Wellington Southern and Eastern Suburbs (approx. postcodes 6021 and 6023). Founded and run by musician Tim Key (of Newtown Rocksteady, etc.), Peacock's Tail is currently a one-man band!
Peacock’s Tail is all about sharing Tim’s love of his deliciously natural fermented beverages with as many people as possible and providing a healthier, yummier, more environmentally friendly, ‘guilt-free’ alternative to traditional fizzy drinks, while also participating in the growing ‘sober curious’ movement by providing a naturally stimulating alternative to alcohol.
